Sarah asked:
I’ve been told I have sciatica, but nobody knows what is causing it. It’s very erratic in that the pain can start at any time from the simplest movement then be gone just as suddenly. So I can’t say physical activity is a definite cause, but it does usually act up after I walk any extended distance. I’m not really sure if a gym class would be good for this, and I’m not really sure what the process is to get excused from the requirements is or even if I could be. What should I do?

You should be getting medical advice from a doctor, not from Yahoo Answers
You should ask your doctor.
And…required gym class at _college_? Really?
Unless you are doing a major in PE, Outdoor Recreation, Kinesiology, or some other movement-related major, PE is generally not required in college.
BTW, according to WebMD,
“Other things that may make your back pain worse include being overweight, NOT EXERCISING REGULARLY, wearing high heels, or sleeping on a mattress that is too soft.”
For physical therapy.
The treatment as it is treatable ask md about referral for physical therapy.
